Basics of Green Building
Presented by Lawrence Lile, PE, LEED AP BD+C, CEM, QCxP
Part of Sustainapalooza
Lawrence Lile, Chief Engineer at Lile Engineering, gives an introduction to the LEED rating system, developed by the USBGC to quantify and encourage sustainable design. Lawrence will give an overview of the categories of LEED construction, using examples of projects he has been involved with. Lawrence has particular training in "Building Commissioning" which is required to achieve LEED Certificiation. Building Commissioning puts another set of eyes on the design and construction of the mechanical systems and can save building owners thousands of dollars by making sure these complex systems are installed and operating optimally. Mr. Lile hopes to leave Rotarians with a better understanding of what green really means, and how critical good engineering is to the process.
