Michael Willis, FAIA, NOMA
Willis founded Michael Willis & Associates Architects (now MWA Architects Inc.) in 1988 and retired in 2016. Since 2017 he has been an independent design consultant and served as a visiting professor at his alma mater, Washington University St. Louis. MWA has created master plans and designs for several mixed-income affordable housing projects and neighborhood revitalization projects in San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, St. Louis, and post-Katrina New Orleans (Faubourg Lafitte). Willis was the first black president of the SF AIA chapter, and has served as principal on large public projects including the New International Terminal at SFO, and the current new Central Subway Yerba Buena/Moscone Station in San Francisco.
