Alphabet Soup: Making Sense of the Material Transparency Movement
Health Product Declaration, Cradle to Cradle, Pharos Library, GreenScreen, and Declare are just a few of the main programs that are driving transparency in the building product marketplace. This seminar will explore how each program works and its advantages. The presenter will discuss how to write specifications that allow practitioners to drive the material transparency movement as designers, builders or specifiers. Additionally, the presenter will clarify how these programs can contribute to points in LEED v4.

SPEAKER
Monica Miller, LEED AP BD+C, O+M, WELL AP is ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s Sustainable Design Manager. Monica is a licensed landscape architect, with previous experience as a project manager for design and construction projects both internationally and in the United States. She has participated on LEED project teams and led ThyssenKrupp’s manufacturing facility to achieve LEED Gold in 2015. Monica is a Living Building Challenge Ambassador as well as a WELL Accredited Professional advocating for the growth of healthy buildings and healthy materials. She has experience developing Health Product Declarations, a Declare label for Living Building Challenge projects, and working with manufacturing to continually develop healthy materials.
